Want to get to know everyone here at Pine Crest? We are getting personal and starting this November Pine Crest Fabrics will feature a Q&A on every employee, every month. To kick it off we had to start with our newest President, Tim Sheils!
Tim explain briefly about your history here at Pine Crest Fabrics;
I started working here when I was about 6 years old and was a mean shots with a rubber band. For a couple years in high school I spent my summers working in the warehouse receiving and shipping mostly stretch velvets and prints, as they were the hot items in the 90’s. One time I recall the famous Brian Lake almost fired me for receiving in goods twice, causing a ghost inventory to appear in our inventory system. We only found out after he had sold the goods… He was not happy, but after a stern talking to, I was able to keep my job. About 8 years ago (2 years after college) I joined back up with Pine Crest Fabrics, but this time it was to start selling the spandex fabric.
Growing up in the industry and always being surrounded by stretch fabric, do you have any fun memories or costumes your Mom would make for you?
Yes, I remember when I was about 10 years old I wanted to be batman for Halloween. My dad was selling to a costume company, so he brought home a free costume. It was basically tricot tights with spandex underwear over the top. The mask was made from cloth so that the ears didn’t even stand up. I remember walking around my school gymnasium and feeling like is was simply in my underwear. Now that was scary.
What is your personal favorite print of all times here at PCF?
The print that has sold the most, Peace Time Rainbow. We killed it with that print! I remember being amazed that Quiksilver passed on it.
On your free time, which must be hard to come by, what are your top 3 favorite things to do?
That would be easy, play soccer, go to music concerts, and drink good beer. Is this going on okay cupid?
Favorite band at the moment?
Now that is a really good question and I can’t limit it to one. We’ll start with my local favorites, which is a band called Typhoon. They’re an 11 piece band that rights brilliant soul gushing music. I’m just waiting for them to break it big. Next would be Alt-J whose debut album is super creative, but it’s being way over played. I also came across a new band from Wisconsin called PHOX and they are amazing. I came across them on Spotify and I’ve been addicted to them lately. Lastly, I’ve been listen to Jim Croce and getting into back catalog. Lots of great stuff. Man, I should be in the music industry!
If you had any super power what would it be?
I use to say Mind Control, but I think that’s a bit to autocratic. Being able to teleport would make business travel a breeze.
As a child what did you want to become when you grew up? I think I wanted to become a firefighter or a teacher. Both professions I extremely admire.
What are your future goals with Pine Crest Fabrics, any big changes now that you are the man in charge? I can’t let the cat out of the bag. Our competition maybe reading this.
